Welcome Back

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! It is an exciting time to be a part of the Community Based Transition Program (CBTP) classroom at Vanderbilt. There are six new students and only one returning student. Although there are many new faces, it hasn’t taken long for the class to get to know each other. During the first couple weeks of school, students played many get-to-know you games and participated in icebreakers such as “Never Have I Ever”. During this game, students listed something they had never done before. It was a great way for everyone to become comfortable with each other!

This year, students are participating in non-paid internships at several sites throughout the community: Holiday Inn Vanderbilt, the downtown Criminal Justice Center and Second Harvest Food Bank. Also, students have signed up for library cards at the downtown branch and have been checking out books on Fridays during Community Day. Below are some pictures from the Holiday Inn as well as the downtown library.

Thanks for checking out the site! This is the second year I’ve used this website, so feel free to look at older pages from last year. If this is your first time viewing the site, this will give you a good idea of the types of activities students participate in as part of the CBTP at Vanderbilt.
