For many students with disabilities, obtaining and maintaining employment is an important goal. However, this goal is often one of the most difficult to achieve. The Community Based Transition Program (CBTP) was established directly with this goal in mind.
CBTP provides community-based training experiences for students who have graduated with a special education diploma. Students complete vocational training through various non-paid internships throughout the metro Nashville area. In addition, students spend part of the school day continuing to learn functional academics and life skills. This program has opened the door to additional internship opportunities, work-based training, and even gainful employment.
There are eight CBTP classrooms in Nashville:
- The Arc Davidson County
- Center Building
- Disaster Relief Center
- Nashville Airport Marriott
- Skyline Madison Campus
- United Methodist Publishing House
